Silly Rhymes

Do you remember silly poems like these?

I went to the movies tomorrow,
And took a front seat in the back.
I fell from the floor to the balcony,
And broke a front bone in my back.
Ladies and gentlemen, hobos and tramps,
Cross-eyed mosquitoes, and bow-legged ants,
I come before you to stand behind you
And tell you something I know nothing about...

Are there others you recall?

The one I remember from the 50's went:

One dark day in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came and shot the two dead boys.

I just LOVED the silly, pun-riddled lullaby called "Do Ships Have Eyes?" that my mom used to sing. I asked her to sing it to my daughter when she (my daughter) was about 3, and you can watch the video or listen to the audio file here.

Have you heard this before? I think the tune may have its origins in a classical piece, but can't figure out which one.
