@ELISA - Sarasota was way later. The one in Baraboo was their original headquaters and winter home (1884 to 1918). It was from Baraboo that the Ringling Brothers left for their very first tour as a Circus. I agree that it sad that circuses are going the way as so many other things from our childhood. :(
edit:I was concerned about the difference in dates so did some checking and they list both dates 1871 & 1884. Best I can figure is that Ringling Bros was founded in 1871 and 1884 was when they first started going on tour only to return for the winter.
I hope that "The Circus World"Museum,"The Circus Hall Of Fame" and "The Clowning Hall Of Fame"will always be there to maintain the history, the excitement and the fun of the circus and clowning.
It's going to be a sad day..when The Circus will no longer be coming to any town in the USA or Canada..but? The memories of Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey will always be with us.

Baraboo, WI was the home and winter quarters of Ringling Bro's. The Circus Word Museum is there and is great place to visit. They have original trains, wagons, buildings, and put on a show daily. Google the museum for more info.
